AAF-Akron Receives National Recognition for Club Achievement
Awards for Communications, Programs and Operations

AKRON, OH (July 5, 2016) – The Akron Chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF-Akron) recently earned three National Club Achievement awards for Communications, Club Operations and Programs from the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) Club Achievement Competition. The complete breakdown of awards is as follows:

Club Operations – 1st Place (awarded to clubs whose policies, procedures and leadership development excel and contribute to the organization’s operations)

Communications – 1st Place (also known as The Sid Bernstein Communications Award for Communications, sponsored by Crain Communications, awarded to clubs with the most effective and creative communications materials. A $1,000 grant is awarded to each first-place winner)

Programs – 2nd Place (awarded to clubs whose efforts foster actively interested membership, well-attended meetings and membership growth)

“These awards mean a great deal,” said Cecilia Sveda, Executive Director of AAF-Akron. “They are a direct reflection of the countless volunteer hours and effort put in by board members and their committees, along with our partners and members, to make AAF-Akron an outstanding organization. We’re very proud, and we plan to keep raising the bar in all areas for the club, while bringing valuable programming and events to professionals in the greater Akron area.” 

AAF distributes club achievement awards as a way “to recognize excellence and encourage high standards among industry professionals.” There are eight different categories of entry, including Advertising Education, Communications, Club Operations, Diversity and Multicultural Initiatives, Programs and Public Service.

A grand total of 46 clubs (selected from nearly 300 entries) throughout the country received awards based on efforts undertaken throughout the previous year. Sveda collected the awards on behalf of AAF-Akron during ADMERICA, the AAF’s annual national conference in June. Clubs compete within their membership size divisions. Akron belongs to Division III, which consists of clubs between 100-249 members. To view the full list of winners, click here.
