Education Committee


This committee serves as the club’s connection with all area colleges and universities. Its focus is to provide leadership and learning opportunities for students with career interests in advertising/marketing, while working with the schools in fulfilling other needs for professional involvement. Responsibilities include, yet are not limited to:

  • KSU StudentsActively work to facilitate growth of student (university/college) AAF Charter memberships. Existing include The University of Akron, Walsh University, Youngstown State University.
  • Act as liaison to area universities, colleges and high schools in order to promote advertising and marketing industry as a viable career opportunity in our community.
  • Develop professional development resources, internships and mentorships for students.
  • Seek opportunities, activities, events and professional development initiatives to engage with and bring students into the club.
  • Co-chair student-focused programs such as Agency Open Houses/Tours and Communications Career Nights.
  • Promote and support area school in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). (Plan books and videotapes, along with tapes of winning team presentations, available from national AF.)
  • Work on scholarship opportunities for AAF-Akron.
  • Students2Oversee an annual allocation of the club’s scholarship and make recommendations to the Board as to the award amount.
  • Develop opportunities for AAA-Akron members to sponsor individual scholarships.
  • Work with Communications Chair to promote the availability of the club scholarship.
  • Recruit members for the review committee to select scholarship recipients.
  • Work with Communications Chair to coordinate announcement of scholarship winners and invitation to the annual meeting.
