Six Professional Associations Join to Host Merry Mingle Proceeds benefit Youth Excellence Performing Arts Workshop

Over 100 people attended Merry Mingle, a holiday charity networking event, held at The Tangier in downtown Akron on November 30. The event featured an appetizer and dessert buffet, silent auction baskets donated by the participating professional organizations, a raffle and a performance by 30 young singers from Youth Excellence Performing Arts Workshop (YEPAW). The event proceeds benefited YEPAW.

The collaborative social and philanthropic event was hosted jointly by the Akron Chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF-Akron), American Marketing Association Northeast Ohio Chapter (AMA NEO), Akron/Canton Chapter of the National Sales & Marketing Executives (NSME), Greater Akron Chamber, Northeast Ohio Craftsmen Club (NEOCC) and the Akron Area Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

YEPAW uses the arts to engage and support middle and high school urban youth in activities that provide positive options for developing their talents, skills and self-esteem. The purpose of the group was aptly summed up from youth interviews in YEPAW’s introductory video:

”We are determined to make a positive difference in the lives of our youth … These young people are going to change the world.” YEPAW is under the guidance of Executive Director Leslie P. Barnes.

Merry Mingle was presented through the generous donations of event partner HKM Direct Market Communications with support from Star Printing, J. Hilburn, Studio Léné and The Tangier.

The event raised $2,500 for YEPAW.
